Pretty Pictures
I don’t know about you, but if I read the word “comforting” one more time in a culinary context, I may throw a daubiere. At the moment the very idea of stew, maraconi and cheese, polenta, or any other thick, hot dish of food makes me ill. I suspect many others feel the same way.
In that vein, I offer you pretty pictures. Not because they will make you feel better. They won’t. Hopefully they will offer momentary pleasant distraction, much like scrolling through photos of kittens. With no pots to wash afterward.
Raspberry liqueur, which went into a pound cake.
Red pepper, which went into a Paula Wolfert recipe for lamb.
Spices, which went into the recipe mentioned above.
Pyrex custard cups.
Cumin, hot pepper, and black pepper.
Bartlett pear.
Creme Fraiche.
Red lentils and barley flying through space. (not really: it’s a black cutting board with whitish dots.)
